Join us in returning to NYC on June 5th to collaborate with executive leaders in exploring comprehensive methods for auditing AI models regarding bias, performance, and ethical compliance across diverse organizations. Find out how you can attend here.
Brev.dev, a platform that simplifies the development of AI/ML models, fine-tunes and deployments on GPUs in the cloud, has formed a strategic partnership with Akash Network, a decentralized cloud computing marketplace. In an exclusive VentureBeat report, the companies have revealed that the collaboration aims to provide Brev.dev users with seamless access to Akash’s extensive network of GPUs, enabling them to scale their AI projects without the limitations imposed by traditional centralized cloud providers.
The AI development landscape has been struggling with limited access to high-performance computing resources and the high costs associated with cloud infrastructure. Brev.dev, founded by two Y-Combinator cloud infrastructure alums, has been addressing these issues by providing a user-friendly platform for developers to set up and work with popular open-source AI models. The integration with Akash Network pushes this mission further.
“With the Akash & Brev integration, AI developers on Brev can access the untapped market of GPUs from Web3 marketplaces,” said Nader Khalil, co-founder and CEO of Brev.dev, in an exclusive interview. “We’ve been working closely with Greg [Osuri] and the incredible team at Akash, sharing our compute needs, and they’ve been working hard to make sure that compute is available to us for our users.”
Decentralizing cloud infrastructure
Akash Network, often described as the “Airbnb for cloud computing,” uses a decentralized network of global providers to offer cost-effective and flexible access to computing resources. By partnering with Brev.dev, Akash aims to expand its reach in the AI development community and drive the adoption of decentralized cloud infrastructure.

“This integration underscores the capabilities of decentralized clouds like Akash by demonstrating the scale and competitive pricing only available through distributed providers,” Greg Osuri, founder of Akash Network and CEO of Overclock Labs, told VentureBeat. “With a decentralized platform, anyone can become a cloud provider and monetize their compute. This will allow any developer, anywhere to contribute to the next wave of software innovation due to decreased cloud overhead, while still being able to access the resources required for today’s deployments.”
On-demand access to high-performance GPUs
The partnership arrives at a crucial time for the AI industry, as the demand for GPUs and high-performance computing resources continues to outpace supply. Traditional cloud providers often require long-term commitments and substantial upfront costs, creating barriers for startups and individual developers. Akash Network’s decentralized approach solves this problem by providing on-demand access to a wide range of GPU models, including NVIDIA H100, A100, and A6000, at competitive prices.
“Akash’s permissionless and open-source marketplace allows for a wider range of GPUs to be made available to developers,” added Osuri. “This means that AI developers on Brev can access the latest and most powerful GPU models without being locked into a single vendor or having to pay exorbitant prices.”
Brev.dev, already an Nvidia partner, is known for its training programs for question-answering models using Nvidia’s NeMO framework. The integration with Akash Network will further enhance Brev.dev’s offerings, allowing developers to access powerful GPUs without vendor lock-in or high upfront costs.
“Brev makes 1-click deployments for fine-tuning or deploying SOTA open source models,” explained Khalil. “Each link provisions the necessary compute, installs CUDA, python, and any other software dependencies, putting you right into the jupyter notebook for the task. With Akash’s decentralized cloud, we can now offer this functionality at a much larger scale and at a lower cost to our users.”
Shaping the future of AI development
The potential impact of this partnership extends beyond just the two companies involved. As AI continues to permeate various industries, the demand for accessible and affordable computing resources will only grow. Decentralized cloud networks like Akash have the potential to democratize access to these resources, fostering innovation and enabling a wider range of developers to participate in the AI revolution.
“This partnership is a major milestone for both Brev.dev and Akash Network,” said Khalil. “By combining our strengths, we are not only empowering AI developers but also contributing to the growth of the decentralized cloud ecosystem. We believe that this collaboration will have a lasting impact on the future of AI development.”
With the backing of the Sequoia Scout Fund and the recent listing of Akash’s native token, AKT, on Coinbase, both Brev.dev and Akash Network are well-positioned to drive the adoption of decentralized cloud infrastructure in the AI space. As more developers discover the benefits of on-demand GPU access and the flexibility offered by decentralized networks, the partnership between these two innovative companies is poised to reshape the AI development landscape.
